Dr. Kirsten Murphy
Dr. Kirsten Murphy is a graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. She grew up in both Southern California and Colorado. Wanting to become a veterinarian from an early age, she spent many hours with her "zoo" of personal pets including cats, dogs, horses, birds, hamsters, guinea pigs, rats, frogs, and fish.
After completing her last year of veterinary school she volunteered doing surgery for the Humane Society. She ultimately couldn't stay away from Southern California and returned to Orange County and has honed her skills in general medicine and surgery. Dr. Murphy worked in Irvine, Tustin, and Orange for 12 years prior to joining Orange Canyon Pet Clinic in March of 2018. Her professional interests include surgery, oncology, and animal behavior.
Dr. Murphy lives in Orange with her husband, three kids, and their furry four-legged friends. This includes Penny Lane (Pug), Lucca (French Bulldog), Luna (French Bulldog), Stretch (Persian cat), Rascal (Bengal) and Lady (horse). When Dr. Murphy isn't working or playing with the kids, she enjoys gardening, sewing (she makes her own dog costumes for Halloween), and travelling the world. Some of her favorite places include Egypt, China, Italy, and the Greek Isles.
Dr. John J Black
A 23 year Californian, Dr. Black's career began in the farmlands of the Midwest. He found his way west after graduation from U of IL and received his doctorate in veterinary medicine at Oklahoma St. He spent some early years working in the zoo field and horse work but his true calling was in the small animal field of medicine.
Dr. Black has owned OCPC since 1995 and for the most part has been it's only doctor. He doesn't limit his work to just dogs and cats, but sees a good number of "pocket pets", birds and reptiles. He is an accomplished surgeon and an excellent diagnostician. In his free time he likes to head up to the local mountains to play. He enjoys boating, hiking, and quad riding. He is blessed with two great kids Rebecca and Chase. He is very proud of their many achievements.
He has a Labrador, Dakota, a Siamese, Asia, and raises finches for fun. He usually works 6 (sometimes 7) days a week and has kept that schedule since he started. He is always reachable if you have any pet question and he looks forward to meeting clients, new and existing.
At Orange Canyon Pet Clinic we promise to treat your family companions as if they were our own.
